"We love books and reading!" said the 2nd Graders in Mrs. Fleming's class. Gram Cracker Cindy shared many wonderful stories with the 2nd Graders throughout the year. She was inspired by the class to transform a thrifted cabinet into a special "Little Library," with the handiwork help of Uncle Jim. The students added some special touches with thumbprint flowers, and then filled it with books to share. You can find this reading treasure located at Hill and Hollow Campground (coming soon). A special thank you to Gram Cracker Cindy for her kindness and support to our Pentwater students, staff and community!

The Pentwater Falcons traveled to Mason County Central for a single game matchup. The Lady Falcons came out aggressive with Karina Olivarez and Aubrie Adams on early. Mandi Sayles then drove in Olivarez with a sac fly to center. Adams later scored on a wild pitch. Sadly, that was all the Falcons could score and the game was lost 17-2. However, the ladies kept it positive and great catches were made by Isabel Babbin at second, Paige Sadenwater in right, and Lauren Davis in center. The Falcons head to districts next at MCE (opponent determined at tonight's MCE vs. White Cloud game) with a game start time of 10 am.

We had a wonderful turnout at our Family Fun Night/Parent Cafe on Thursday, May 15. Parents engaged in conversations and learned how to set healthy limits on technology for their children. Kids enjoyed learning new math games and reading a new book in the Elementary Bookwalk. They received math games to take home and were also given a free copy of "How to Catch a Star", which was the book they read together at the event. Children also learned about our amazing solar system in a unique traveling planetarium. Thank you to the following people who made the event extra special: Sara Jeruzal, Justine Aultman, Phil Santellan, Brian Dotson, Meg Brown, Tracey Laaksonen, Mary Baker and James Mueller and our many Pentwater high school student volunteers.

Heather Bernard from Gift of Life Michigan recently visited Mrs. Fatura’s biology classes to discuss the crucial role of organ donation and the transplantation process. Her engaging presentation emphasized the significance of the donor registry and the profound impact it has on saving lives. Students had the unique opportunity to handle and examine human specimens, including a heart, lungs, kidneys, pancreas and liver. The discussion also covered tissue transplants, with samples of corneas, ligaments, tendons, and bone provided for examination. To deepen their understanding, students experienced what it feels like to have corneal blindness through specialized glasses. It was a very informative presentation! For more information, you can visit https://www.giftoflife.org/

JH Track Meet Cancellation
Pentwater varsity softball finished up conference play this Monday in a double header against Mesick. Pentwater fell in the first game 11-6, despite out-hitting Mesick 10 to 8. Paige Sadenwater, Karina Olivarez and Mandi Sayles collected multiple hits in this game to lead the charge offensively. Karina Olivarez caught three runners stealing, as she limited Mesick's run game. Mesick's bats came alive in the second game as Pentwater struggled to limit the damage, falling into a hole in the second inning. Mandi Sayles was able to keep the hot hitting alive, hitting two sharp singles. The Falcons showed life in the bottom of the third, with hits up and down the line-up led by Emma Werkema-Grondsma, Charlie Swanger and Alazae Acevedo. The rally was not enough however as the Falcons fell 26 to 11.
