Dear Family and Friends,
We know that everyone is ready and needing a break! As many of you are planning to travel to warm and fun places for vacations, we ask that you still follow the necessary safety protocols of masking, safe distancing and washing/sanitizing your hands frequently. We also ask that upon your return you monitor everyone’s health and if someone is not feeling well, please keep them home for a few days and/or get them tested if they are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms.
If you are traveling out of the state or country and want to learn more of what the CDC’s and Health department’s travel guidelines and recommendations are, please follow the links below:
(https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/travel-during-covid19.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Ftravelers%2Ftravel-in-the-us.ht)
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/images/Testing-after-travel_1200x675.jpg
Again, please remember to self-screen your students before sending them back to school after traveling and if they are not feeling well, please keep them home. If anyone is showing symptoms of COVID-19, we recommend that you get them tested before they return to school.
We thank you for your commitment to following the necessary safety precautions that will help keep our classrooms open and, if you are traveling, we wish you a safe and enjoyable trip! We look forward to seeing everyone upon their return!
Respectfully,
Dr. Scott Karaptian

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! On Friday, April 30th at 6pm, the 6th Grade, JH, HS, and Jazz Bands will be giving an outdoor concert on the soccer field... this is our first concert since February 2020... and we'd love to see everyone there (with masks and distancing, of course!).
In preparation for our concert and virtual band festival, the JH and HS Bands had a clinic with West Shore Community College's Director of Performing Arts, Professor Ted Malt! It was a blast to work with someone new and make some music together... this is the first of many clinics with music professionals over the next month and we're so fortunate to be able to work with so many amazing people! Thanks, Professor Malt!

7th grade artists collaborated today with 3rd grade partners via Google Meet on a dice drawing game that they created!

On Tuesday, February 23rd, 2021, the HS Jazz Band welcomed Mr. Colin Rensch to join us in a conversation about writing music! Mr. Rensch holds degrees in music and history and is currently completing coursework at the University of Illinois to receive a doctorate in musicology (the study of music history... and all things music!). HS Jazz Band students had been working on a composition project for most of the month of February, during which time they wrote a 12-bar instrumental blues. Mr. Rensch spoke with students about his own compositional process as a jazz composer and arranger... and the importance of listening in jazz! Thank you, Mr. Rensch!
