What a beautiful, sunny day to go snowshoeing! There wasn't much snow, but the 3rd graders got to experience the winter sport and learn all about the history of snowshoeing. They also had a lesson on Michigan's winter animals presented by Alan Wernette who is a Ludington State Park Interpreter at Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Thank you Mr. Wernette!

Today marked the conclusion of the indoor track season, full of remarkable achievements and intense competition. It brings me great joy to celebrate the accomplishments of some of our exceptional athletes. During the meet on February 3rd, hosted by Aquinas, Abe VanDuinen secured victory in the 1600-meter event, matching his indoor personal best time and indoor school record time of 4:32.79. Additionally, he impressed by clinching 13th place in the 800 meters, setting a new indoor personal record and indoor school record with a time of 2:11.81. In the meet today, hosted by Grand Valley State University, Abe demonstrated his talents in the 3200-meter race, claiming the 9th position with a remarkable indoor personal best and new indoor school record of 9:48.26. Another standout performer, Logan Fatura, displayed his hard work by securing the 15th position in the shot put event with a new indoor personal best distance of 37' 10.5". Being a sophomore, he only fell short to two non-upperclassmen athletes. Today was truly a testament to the dedication and talent of our remarkable athletes.

In addition to this memorable chemistry experience, the seniors were pleasantly surprised to receive heartfelt thank you letters from the students they collaborated with. These sincere reflections on the 3rd graders gained knowledge deeply touched the seniors. Such remarkable opportunities, exclusive to our K-12 district, hold immense significance for students across all grade levels.

Advanced chemistry students in Mrs. Fatura's class were given the chance to demonstrate an inquiry-based chemistry lesson to Mrs. Macher's third-grade students. This lab experience revolved around unraveling the scientific principles behind a fascinating toy known as "wack a packs." Witnessing both sets of students enthusiastically engaged and thoroughly enjoying themselves was truly exhilarating!

The Falcon team traveled to Mesick tonight to set the stage for a big conference title game next Thursday. With the win tonight in Mesick ( 68-29) the Falcons will now take on the Panthers of Baldwin to Compete for a chance to Co-Conference Champs. The Falcons are 1 game behind the Panthers going into next week. The focus and the stakes of the game tonight were on the minds of the Falcon team. As a unit they played exceptionally well together and had 4 players in double figures! At times, passing between the Falcons was so enjoyable to watch. The unselfish play and chemistry of the entire team was noticeable and exciting. Mikey Carlson led the attack tonight scoring 19 points coupled by Trey Johnson with 18! The Falcons hosted MCE for a conference match-up and the team won 59-36. The entire team played outstanding defense on the night forcing 11 turnovers down the stretch. The defensive intensity allowed for quick transitions led by defensive efforts of Jack Roberts and Kaleb Brown on MCE's best offensive player. ( holding him to 11points) Trey Johnson and Will Werkema Grondsma both had outstanding performances on the night. Trey knocked down several buckets in the first half scoring 19 points! Will also hit many shots to add an additional 11 points. The second half was a slow start for the Falcons. The team adjusted into a half court trap to build some momentum and that helped give flight again to the Falcons. Nathan Macher, Mikey Carlson, Will Werkema Grondsma owned the boards. Will pulled down 18 rebounds and ended with 17 points, 3 assists, and two steals. Nathan Macher snagged 4 boards and found the line a few times. Trey continued to hit shots down the stretch to lock in 25 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. What a night for the Falcons team. Wyatt Roberts stepped up big in the absence of Jonny Arnouts and the team earned a Victory! Well done, Falcons! Overall: 15-5 Conference: 14-2 Trey Johnson 25pts, 6 rebounds, 3 steals Will Werkema Grondsma had 17pts,18 rebounds, 2 ast, 3 steals Mikey Carlson had 5pts,6 rebounds, 3 blocks Kaleb Brown: 3 points, 2 rebound Nathan Macher: 3pts, 4 rebounds, 1 steal Jack Roberts: 3pts, 4 rebounds, 1 steals Wyatt Roberts: 2pts, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal Abram Kieda: 1pts, 1 rebounds

Mrs. Fatura’s 9th and 10th grade physical science class started a unit on forces and motion by competing in a paper football challenge. Each student or pair of students, had to follow instructions to make a paper football. Then, tests were conducted and data was collected on which of three possible methods of flicking produced the furthest flight as well as how adding paper clips affected the performance of the football. The winning flick was 165 inches (13.75 feet) by Logan Fatura! It was a fun activity and coincided well with the Super Bowl this weekend!
