The goal is to reach a combined total of $2000 and the elementary and JH/HS class with the most points will each win a $50 gift card for their class (can we say pizza party?!!) $30 gift cards will be given to the highest classes if we collect less than our $2000 goal. FIND YOUR JOY! Our first Pentwater Mental Health Day with elementary students was a success on Thursday, 3/3. Pentwater Mental Health Days nurtures an awareness of mindfulness practices for all ages with the aim of creating lifelong interest and engagement in whole self-wellness. Many thanks to area businesses and community members who helped make it a success. Our JH/HS students will participate on Tuesday, 3/8. There were activities such as yoga, animal exploration, crochet/crafting, yard games, building activities, yoga as well as karaoke for some singing and laughter!

Some of our Middle Schoolers travelled to Hart today to compete in a Quizbowl competition. We came in second losing to Hart in our third match. For only having 3 practices I was very proud.

February 21, 2022
Dear Pentwater Families and Friends,
Tonight, based on the new guidance from MDHHS on February 16, 2022, the Pentwater Board of Education voted to revise the Covid-19 Masking protocol from a requirement to an optional decision to be made by individual parents and staff.
All individuals, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear a mask during the 6-10th day of an isolation and/or quarantine period while at school. This is an important step to protect fellow students and staff from possible community spread of COVID-19.
Making a personal decision about mask use is an important tool in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and individuals who feel sick, may be at higher risk of infection, or who feel better protected when masked, should they choose and feel comfortable doing so.
Families should consider their individual and family members’ risk factors and vaccination status when making the personal decision whether to mask. Those with chronic illness or who are immunocompromised are at higher risk for poor outcomes from COVID-19 and would benefit most from masking in indoor settings. These risk factors may include age, medical conditions, and vaccination status.
Moving forward, the COVID-19 response cycle can be broken down into three key phases:
Response – Local and state public health implement rapid response to a surge. The public may be advised to increase masking, testing and social distancing.
Recovery – Post-surge. No immediate resurgence predicted. Local and state public health will monitor conditions that could lead to future surges.
Readiness – A surge in cases is expected, with implications on severity of illness and hospital capacity. Increased communication to the public regarding possible new risks.
MDHHS’s recommendations regarding masking may change as conditions evolve – such changes could include the presence of a new variant that increases the risk to the public, or an increased number of cases that strains the healthcare system. During future times of surge, additional access to testing resources, vaccination clinics, and therapeutic treatment may be made available as the situation warrants.
It is still strongly recommended that you get tested if you are exposed or have symptoms. Anyone with signs or symptoms of COVID-19 should get tested regardless of vaccination status or prior infection. Testing before unmasked gatherings provides an additional layer of protection. You can check with the school to see if we still have test kits available or you can find a test site by visiting www.Michigan.gov/CoronavirusTest. Take additional steps to protect yourself and others.
It is extremely important that we show and treat everyone’s decision, whether it is to wear a mask or not, with the utmost respect. Disrespectful behavior toward any individual’s masking decision will not be tolerated.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation during these difficult times.
Respectfully,
Dr. Scott Karaptian
