Saturday night basketball games... What a game it was. The Falcons were faced with a lot of adversity prior to traveling to Baldwin. Sickness, injury and adaptations to teams led us into the tied, 1st place in conference matchup with many adjusted goals. The JV were challenged first by playing the game with only 5 athletes. Every player gave it their best and earned a hard fought win without their point guard, Wyatt Roberts. Well done Gavin, Ben, Tyler, Bode and Brody. Roberts was asked up to varsity tonight to help balance a 6 player team varsity team to 7. Willing and able, he stepped up to the challenge with pride. The Falcons opened the night with a slow start offensively. They had several attempts at the basket and missed several bunny shots. The defense never gave up and helped propel the Falcons offense to a 9-17 end of 1. The second quarter belonged to the Falcons. Several Falcons like Will Werkema Grondsma, Jonny Arnouts, Kaleb Brown and Mikey Carlson hit several buckets down the stretch. This allowed for the Falcons to outscore the Panthers 13-9 and head in at the half down 22-25. After a few adjustments at the half the Falcons found a way to out-rebound the Panthers in the 3rd. Will and Mikey led the charge with rebounds and Will Werkema Grondsma, Jonny Arnouts, Kaleb Brown and Mikey Carlson all balanced the scoring as well. The Falcons won the 3rd quarter and took their first lead 41-40. Kaleb Brown did am outstanding job guarding one of Baldwins leading scorers. The fourth quarter was intense on both ends of the ball. The crowd was full of excitement as everyone anticipated the final stanza. The Falcons were not able to escape foul trouble with both Will and Jonny fouling out with minutes remaining while attempting charges and down only 3. The Falcons kept the game within reach by a 2-3 point margin until the final seconds. It was the Panthers that found victory being up four with only a 2 second remaining on the clock. This puts the Falcons behind the Panthers one game in conference now leading into a rematch in a couple weeks. With great pride, we are all so proud of the purple and gold tonight! Thanks to all of the community that came to support your Falcons tonight. Overall: 12-4 Conference: 11-2 Jonny Arnouts had 13pts, 5 ast, 3 rebounds, 2 steals Mikey Carlson had 16pts, 11rebounds, Trey Johnson 4pts, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 ast Will Werkema Grondsma had 13pts, 3 steals, 14 rebounds, 3ast Kaleb Brown: 12pts, 5 rebound Jack Roberts:1 steals Wyatt Roberts:3 rebounds

The Falcons traveled to Bear Lake for a conference match-up and team win 62-36. The entire team played outstanding defense on the night forcing 19 turnovers down the stretch. The defensive intensity allowed for quick transition led by Jonny Arnouts and company as the shared passes turned into a big 15 point lead. Jonny Arnouts had an outstanding performance on the night. ( 17pts) He continued to set the pace with Will Werkema ( 9pts) Grondsma, Trey Johnson ( 9pts), Mikey Carlson ( 10pts) and Kaleb Brown ( 9pts) all scoring near or into Double figures. The blend of the entire program continued with the pace set and with great pride and hustle the Falcons maintained stability until the end. This win brings the Falcons to 12 wins on the season and tied for 1st in conference. A huge matchup will take place in Baldwin on Saturday. Both teams only have one conference loss on the season. Jv starts at 4pm. Please come out wearing PURPLE AND GOLD and cheer on your FALCONS!!! The Falcons took on the Eagles of Marion tonight. The Falcons played step for step with Marion the first quarter with balanced scoring led by Trey Johnson and Mikey Carlson. End of 1: 11-11 The second quarter and third were cold shooting for the Falcons. With multiple opportunities the Falcons could not land a bucket in the field or at the line. End of 3: 19-37, The 4th quarter finally loosened up for the Falcons scoring 25 points together, but the Eagles lead couldn't be cut within 5. It goes without saying that the Falcons never gave up as they cut the lead by 9 points in 45 seconds at one point and 5 points once or twice more. These efforts and hustle just did not allow for the comeback we worked to hard for. The Falcons dropped a conference match-up and will stand in conference at 10-1. Conference: 10-1 Overall: 11-3.

The conference match-up tonight was an exciting one. The Bobcats of Brethren came out quick and strong against the Falcons tonight in the 1st quarter. Their 3 guard front knocked down bucket after bucket and the Falcons faced an early deficit. ( 10-23 ) The Falcons were able to slowly find some offensive balance in the 2nd with Trey Johnson heating up for 3 triples, Mikey Carlson owning the inside game and Kaleb Brown knocking down a huge shot down the stretch. The height and speed of Brethren was difficult to manage but TEAM defense stepped up and held them to only 13 points. Going in at the half the Falcons were down 26-36. Adjustments on both ends of the floor at the half and outstanding board action by several Falcons rocketed us into a frenzy of scoring. Five Falcons hit huge buckets giving the momentum back to the Falcons and closing the Bobcat lead to 2. The next few possessions the lead changed hands, but it was Pentwaters composure and smart defensive plays that propelled them into the 4th with a 45-44 advantage. Jonny Arnouts, Will Werkema Grondsma and company took the ball control back in the fourth limiting the Bobcats attempts to feed their big man in the middle. Down the stretch Mikey Carlson was challenged to knock down several free throws and went 5-8 to help lock in a 3-4 point lead. This charge and strong team defense holding them to only 2 pts accomplished an incredible comeback and WIN! Overall: 10-2 Conference: 10-0 Mikey Carlson had 17pts, 12rb, 1 Stl, 1 Ast - Double Double Trey Johnson 15pts, 2 rebounds, 2ast Will Werkema Grondsma had 2pts, 9 RB, 4 ast, 2 steals Jonny Arnouts had 9pts, 2st, Kaleb Brown: 11pts, 7 rb, 3 ast Nathan Macher: 1Rb, Jack Roberts: 1rb

Go Falcons! The Homecoming Extravaganza was a HUGE success! The night was filled with special moments that make our school incredibly unique. The " Main Event" was the 4 hour classic containing 2 winning basketball games, glo-show, cheers, king and queen, prince and princess, smiles and community pride all wrapped in a small gymnasium, standing room only. The Varsity extended their record to 9-0 in conference vs the Wildcats of Walkerville. The JV beat the Pirates of Hart. Several athletes stepped up in both contests to give the crowd something to cheer about and reminded us all the magic of a strong and prideful community. Well Done, Falcons! Overall: 9-2 Conference: 9-0 Trey Johnson led the Falcons with 19pts, 6 rebounds. Will Werkema-Grondsma had 9pts, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals Jonny Arnouts had 9pts, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals Wyatt Roberts had 5pts, 1 rebound Mikey Carlson had 5pts, 4 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 assists Kaleb Brown: 4pts, 3 rb, 2 assists Nathan Macher: 5 rebounds, 1 steal Abram Kieda: 1pt, 3 rebounds Jack Roberts: 4 rebounds
