The Falcons took on the Eagles of Marion tonight. The Falcons played step for step with Marion the first quarter with balanced scoring led by Trey Johnson and Mikey Carlson. End of 1: 11-11
The second quarter and third were cold shooting for the Falcons. With multiple opportunities the Falcons could not land a bucket in the field or at the line. End of 3: 19-37,
The 4th quarter finally loosened up for the Falcons scoring 25 points together, but the Eagles lead couldn't be cut within 5. It goes without saying that the Falcons never gave up as they cut the lead by 9 points in 45 seconds at one point and 5 points once or twice more. These efforts and hustle just did not allow for the comeback we worked to hard for. The Falcons dropped a conference match-up and will stand in conference at 10-1.
Conference: 10-1
Overall: 11-3.

The conference match-up tonight was an exciting one. The Bobcats of Brethren came out quick and strong against the Falcons tonight in the 1st quarter. Their 3 guard front knocked down bucket after bucket and the Falcons faced an early deficit. ( 10-23 ) The Falcons were able to slowly find some offensive balance in the 2nd with Trey Johnson heating up for 3 triples, Mikey Carlson owning the inside game and Kaleb Brown knocking down a huge shot down the stretch. The height and speed of Brethren was difficult to manage but TEAM defense stepped up and held them to only 13 points. Going in at the half the Falcons were down 26-36.
Adjustments on both ends of the floor at the half and outstanding board action by several Falcons rocketed us into a frenzy of scoring. Five Falcons hit huge buckets giving the momentum back to the Falcons and closing the Bobcat lead to 2. The next few possessions the lead changed hands, but it was Pentwaters composure and smart defensive plays that propelled them into the 4th with a 45-44 advantage. Jonny Arnouts, Will Werkema Grondsma and company took the ball control back in the fourth limiting the Bobcats attempts to feed their big man in the middle. Down the stretch Mikey Carlson was challenged to knock down several free throws and went 5-8 to help lock in a 3-4 point lead. This charge and strong team defense holding them to only 2 pts accomplished an incredible comeback and WIN!

Go Falcons!
The Homecoming Extravaganza was a HUGE success! The night was filled with special moments that make our school incredibly unique. The " Main Event" was the 4 hour classic containing 2 winning basketball games, glo-show, cheers, king and queen, prince and princess, smiles and community pride all wrapped in a small gymnasium, standing room only. The Varsity extended their record to 9-0 in conference vs the Wildcats of Walkerville. The JV beat the Pirates of Hart. Several athletes stepped up in both contests to give the crowd something to cheer about and reminded us all the magic of a strong and prideful community.
Well Done, Falcons!
